Breed Profile: Meet the Saint Bernard | November 27, 2008 |
Although born and bred for high-altitude rescue missions and hauling carts across mountain passes, the mighty Saint Bernard easily adjusts to life in the suburban slow lane. Credit his patient, laid-back disposition for that low-maintenance attitude, but never forget the potential power in his massive muscles; and train him before he outweighs you! As long as a Saint Bernard has a small yard in which to meander, a long walk every day will satisfy his activity needs. This intelligent, people-pleasing 110–200-lb. pup loves being with kids, so start socializing while he's still a lightweight, loveable fluff-ball.
